Summer Beauty Essentials… on a Budget
Hello, fabulous friends over 40! Although summer seems to be slipping away all too quickly, I am not quite ready to give up bronze skin, sundresses and sunshine just yet!
So, in today’s very first “Find Yourself Friday” post, I am super excited to share some of my favorite must-have summer beauty products that will not only give you that summertime glow all year long, but are also budget-friendly!
These summer beauty essentials have earned a permanent spot in my beauty arsenal. While I love to bask in the sun all summer, I also know that skin care is essential, especially when it comes to sunscreen and products that not only enhance our natural beauty but also cater to the specific needs of our skin over 40.
So, let’s dive into my top picks for this summer!
1. DRMTLGY Eye Pads: A Morning Miracle
We all know that mornings can be a bit rough, especially after a night of little sleep- or a few glasses of wine! That’s why I am OBSESSED with these undereye patches!

At a price point of about $22, it is much less expensive than many other high-end self-tanning products, and I believe offers a natural glow without looking like a streaky, orange mess. What makes this product different from other self-tanners is that you actually apply it IN the shower when your skin is still wet. This allows you to easily moisturize your skin after your shower and apply self-tanner all in one! Applying the self-tanner to wet skin also allows the product to spread evenly and easily blend right into your skin - so no worries about streaks! Although I use this product in the summer, I also use it year-round to keep a healthy glow all year long! One secret tip to avoid stained clothes: Use a blow dryer on low for a few minutes to dry the tanning cream all over your body!
3. L’Oreal Trumatch LUMI Glowtion: The Foundation Alternative
Believe it or not, I am not a fan of wearing a lot of makeup in the summer. Give me lashes, lips and some bronzer, and I’m ready to go! While we all need some coverage to hide the imperfections of our skin, I have found that most foundations can feel heavy and cakey during the warmer months. That’s why I’ve fallen in love with L’Oreal Glowtion. At a price point of only $12.00, (yes I said $12!!!) it’s the perfect budget-friendly alternative to traditional foundation, providing a light, moisturizing bronzer for your face. What I love about this product is how versatile it is! It doubles and triples as a bronzer, lightweight foundation, moisturizer and highlighter/illuminator all in one! This product comes in a variety of shades, and I will warn you that although they may appear dark, when you actually try the product into your skin, it blends in seamlessly. Try this product for a glowy, sun-kissed look that will leave you looking like you just came home from the beach!
4. Kiehl’s Super Fluid UV Defense Daily Facial Sunscreen SPF 50+
We all know that sunscreen is one of the essential beauty must-haves for all women, but especially for women over 40. I am constantly looking for a sunscreen that isn’t oily and that I can wear with or without makeup. I have been researching and trying various facial sunscreens throughout the summer, and this product, Kiehl’s Super Fluid UV Defense Daily Facial Sunscreen SPF 50+, is one of my favs! It not only offers excellent sunscreen protection, but it also is lightweight, non-greasy, is infused with vitamin E and has a matte finish that I love!
